It’s that time of year again when exams are finishing, coursework has been handed in and freedom is in sight. So, what have you got planned for the summer months? Why not spend some time in the city of Nottingham?

With plenty to see and do, Nottingham has always been a popular and vibrant place to visit – especially throughout the summer months. So, whether you’re a continuing student in the city, or you’re new and arriving in Nottingham early ready for the coming year, below are a few local attractions for you to check out.

Where to visit?
Steeped in history, blessed with a lively culture, and home to world class sport, you’re sure to find something to enjoy no matter your interests…

Delve into history at Nottingham Castle and explore the castle’s caves, galleries and grounds. And with the castle located in the centre of Nottingham, it’s easily accessible from our student accommodation at Lace Market Studios.

But that’s not all. Discover a hidden maze of sandstone caves underneath the streets of Nottingham. The City of Caves attraction is part of a complex of over 500 man-made caves dating back thousands of years to the Dark Ages. Over the years, the caves have been used as a tannery, public house cellars and air raid shelters. Take a tour to investigate the history of the caves and learn more about what once happened inside these fascinating underground dwellings. And if you’re exploring the caves, don’t forget to pop into the famous Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem – an ancient pub built into the caves, for a drink or two.

If you didn’t already know, Nottingham was home to the legendary Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men. With the beautiful 450 acre Sherwood Forest Country Park being the legendary stomping ground for them. And at the end of August you can partake in the hugely popular Robin Hood Festival at Sherwood Forest Country Park.

Feeling sporty? Plan a visit to the Nottingham Tennis Centre this summer and watch some action-packed tennis with friends at the Nature Valley Open – Nottingham Tournament.

Or if acting and play writing is more your thing, then why not visit the beautiful Wollaton Hall for an Outdoor Theatre spectacle? From A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, immerse yourself in theatrical performances in the stunning grounds surrounding the House.

And finally, if you love to be beside the seaside but don’t think you can experience that in Nottingham – what with it being a city in the middle of the country, then think again. You haven’t far to travel to get a taste of the coast, as The Nottingham Beach returns to Old Market Square in July. So, get ready to sit back, relax and enjoy an ice cream on the sandy beach, take a dip in the pool and soak up the atmosphere at the funfair.

With plenty to see and do, summer 2018 in Nottingham is bound to be bigger and better than ever before!
