With Easter holidays behind us and a new term about to start we have discovered plenty of things happening to beat those holiday blues. Check out our list of events happening in the city and discover poetry, ancient tents and pamper sessions.

Calling all poets and poetry lovers, this is festival for you.   An array of acclaimed national and local poets and performers will be providing ten days of word jams, poetry slams, performances, songs and readings from some of the most renowned poets in the country.

The SunSet Run – 7th May – Lee Westwood Sports Centre

Make the most of a spring evening on Tuesday 7 May at 6.30pm and join like-minded runners in a 5k or 1.5k fun run around Nottingham Trent University’s Clifton Campus.

The route will include the nature trail and surrounding areas, and there’ll even be a BBQ at the finish, so runners and their friends and family can purchase a bite to eat. It costs £5 for students entrants must be registered by Friday 3rd May.


Yoga Classes – 1st and 8th May at 7pm – Lace Market Studios

With deadlines looming, you’re bound to feel stressed.  While your student budget may not allow for regular classes at the local yoga studio, you can enjoy the perks of ‘free’ stress busting yoga right here in our social area, provided by All You Yoga.

Yoga is an ancient practice that brings together mind and body. It incorporates breathing exercises, meditation and poses designed to encourage relaxation and reduce stress and anxiety.  Perfect to shake of the stresses and strains of studying.


The Magnificent Spiegeltent - 4th to the 18th May -  Old Market Square

The Magnificent Spiegeltent – 4th to the 18th May – Old Market Square

Spiegeltent literally translates as ‘mirror tent’. These 100yr old tents were built in Belgium in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and now regularly tour the world’s cities and festivals, showcasing music, circus, cabaret, theatre and comedy as well as food and drink.

The shows are of varying price and are expected to sell out quickly.
